Founded in 1995, Northwest Chinese School (NWCS) is a K–12 Chinese language school. For nearly three decades, we have been committed to providing students with comprehensive Simplified Chinese courses and Chinese cultural education. At its peak, NWCS has served more than 1,900 students, reflecting our strong dedication to educational excellence and community engagement.
NWCS is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and our operations rely heavily on the support and commitment of parent volunteers. Our core programs are Chinese language classes held on Saturdays and Wednesdays, where students engage in in-depth language learning and participate in a variety of cultural enrichment activities. These classes aim to enhance students’ language proficiency, and many of our students have successfully passed the AP Chinese Exam and earned the Seal of Biliteracy.
In addition to our Chinese language classes, NWCS also offers afterschool and summer Chinese programs, providing students with ongoing opportunities to strengthen their language skills and cultural understanding.
NWCS is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS), which highlights our adherence to high educational standards and professionalism. In addition to language instruction, NWCS places a strong emphasis on preserving and promoting traditional Chinese culture. Our students not only learn to listen, speak, read, and write in Chinese, but also actively participate in various cultural events such as the Moon Festival celebration, Chinese New Year performance, annual exhibitions of calligraphy and art, and the end-of-year graduation ceremony.
NWCS is more than just a school—it is a vibrant community and a warm home where students and families come together to celebrate and preserve Chinese heritage. We take pride in being a cornerstone of cultural education and a haven for those passionate about the Chinese language and culture.
